Mathews again experienced a leg ailment during the second Twenty20 against India and would require around four weeks to recover completely, said the team’s physiotherapist.
Accordingly, the Cricket committee expressed hope that Mathews would be able to play in the triangular serried slated to take place in Bangladesh in January, but in the event he fails to recover completely by then, he would be rested for the first one day match.
“If our players’ fitness is not 100% we will not make them play, taking a risk. According to the physiotherapist Mathews should recover in about four weeks. If not, he will have to skip the first match or even the second,” said Graeme Labrooy.
