Nominations by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for more areas, including Jaffna, have been rejected.
Returning officers said that SLPP nominations have been rejected for the Jaffna Municipal Council, Valikamam North and Valikamam East Pradeshiya Sabhas, the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha and the Thirapanne Pradeshiya Sabha.
Last week nominations of the SLPP were rejected for the Weligama Urban Council, Maharagama Urban Council, Panadura Urban Council, Agalawatta Pradeshiya Sabha, Badulla Pradeshiya Sabha and Mahiyangana Pradeshiya Sabha.
Nominations by the SLPP for the Dehiattakandiya Pradeshiya Sabha and Padiyathalawa Pradeshiya Sabha were also rejected by the Returning officers.
The Local Government elections will take place in February next year.
