The Supreme Court today (15) considered a Fundamental Rights petition filed by the former UPFA Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha member, Helapriya Nandaraja against the Delimitation Gazette.
The petitioner in his petition said, that Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha has been divided into 3 wards by the latest delimitation and even the Sacred Sripada has also been divided.
Further he claimed that it could lead to religious disharmony. The Chief Justice Priyasad Depp said, that the Chairman of the Election Commission should be inquired into with regard to the content of the FR petition.
Hence, the Supreme Court issued notice to the Chairman of the Election Commission to appear before courts on 8th of January.
